Could you imagine a world without lists? No post-its, triple j hottest 100’s or time magazine’s attempt at being cool and cutting-edge. How would beautiful people know there place in the world without who mag? This world scares me.
I can’t contain this desire to me anymore. So, I am now creating a aural inventory of the week for everyone to read*. Today’s isn’t very fresh…I had to start somewhere and that somewhere is the bottom of the fridge! These are all the songs that I kept going back too. Those sneaky ear worms that disturb me at work. Like “Daniel” by Bat for lashes, her wispy vocals make me wish I could fall in love with a Daniel. Bat for lashes latest album came out way back in April 2009 and admittedly I haven’t got past “Daniel” yet. Rio en Medio “The umbrella” is in the same vain of Bat for lashes, only with a touch of electronica. All abord on the mostly girly** list and Jessica Lea Mayfield needs to be invited. Laura Marling showed off a voice of experience whilst breaking our hearts with her honesty. Jessica does this with a country twang. She was discovered by Dan Auerbach (50% of The Black Keys) last year and is setting pretty at 18 years old.
Hmm, enjoy yourselves…
1. Bat For Lashes - “Daniel”
2. Jessica Lea Mayfield - “I can’t lie to you, love”
3. The Gossip - “Love Long Distance”
4. Las Pulpas - “Vaya Memento”
5. Jay Reatard - “It ain’t gonna save me”
6. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - “Home”
7. Rio en Medio - “The Umbrella”
8. Yacht - “Psychic city (voodoo city)”
9. Ganglians - “Valient brave”
10. Lighting Dust - “Take it home”
